Dynamic changes and evaluation of land ecological environment status based on RS and GIS technique

Abstract
This study chose the middle and southern mountainous region of Shandong province and took Tai'an City as a case study. Index system of land eco-environmental status evaluation was constructed. The land eco-environmental information was extracted from the TM images by remote sensing technique, evaluation method was adopted combining RS and GIS technique, evaluation was conducted by land eco-environmental status index (EI) model, and dynamic change was completed by comparison results of the two period evaluations. The results show that the land eco-environmental status in Tai'an City was generally good in 2005. The area of the excellent grade is 14.34% of the total area, that of the good grade was 39.19%, the common grade was 12.40%, the worse grade was 15.61% and the worst grade was 18.46% of the total area. Compared with that of 1987, the land eco-environmental status had a meliorate trend. Based on the analysis of the various land categories in Tai'an City, the land eco-environment protection measures were advanced. Land eco-environmental status evaluation methods were explored which combined RS and GIS technique, and the regional land eco-environment status and the variation trend were analyzed; therefore, this study has noticeable significance to the regional land eco-environment protection and its improvement.
