Effects of connection mode between transducer and tank on ultrasonic field distribution

    • In order to study the effects of connection mode between transducer and tank on ultrasonic field distribution, two cleaning tanks were developed with whole-bonding mode and flange-connected mode, respectively, and their ultrasonic distribution was tested and compared. The ultrasonic field of the two tanks showed strong standing wave characteristics, and the field intensity in the vertical direction changed in terms of strong-weak alternated cycle, as well as decaying gradually (more for flange-connected tank) from the bottom up. On the horizontal planes, ultrasonic intensity of transducer center was higher than that of surrounding areas, and the difference among peaks and troughs decreased from the bottom up, showing that the ultrasonic field produced by transducers was characterized by directing and scattering in some sense. From the overall distribution of ultrasonic field, ultrasonic intensity of whole bonding tank was significantly higher than that of flange-connected one, showing that the whole-bonding mode was more conducive to convert high-frequency vibration of the transducers into the water cavitation to enhance the cleaning effect.
